I develop web sites for clients. I am wondering if I can cause any problems to my client by registering, as a domain name, the name of a "well known company"? Who is liable if any action is taken?
ANSWER
Yes, you could. Of course, the simple solution is to delete the name if there is a complaint. However, if the well-known client has suffered provable loss as a result of the use of their name, they could also sue for the actual damages caused.

Dr Patentsteins' Tips
When you think you might have an invention with sales potential, immediately discuss the idea with a registered patent practitioner | Ensure you sketch all significant elements of your invention on paper, writing as much detail and comments regarding its' operation | After creating any descriptions or sketching your invention, ensure a witness (or even two) sign the paper to support your claim |
